James Vernon Traw

U.S. Veteran

JAMES VERNON TRAW

James Vernon Traw, son of Porter Alvin and Maude S. Starks Traw, was born September 29, 1923 in Montreal, Missouri. He departed this life, Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Jordan Creek Nursing and Rehab, Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-eight years, eight months and twenty-five days.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; and his parents.

Survivors include his son, Terry Traw and wife Jodie of Strafford, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Lacy and husband Jim of Leawood, Kansas and Pauline Fleskes of Minneola, Florida and other relatives and many friends.

James grew up in the Lake of the Ozarks area. He served his country proudly in United States Navy during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he started farming in Halfway, Missouri. He later moved to Springfield, Missouri. When he left Springfield, he moved out west where he guided people on hunting and fishing trips in California, Wyoming and Idaho. Several years later he moved to San Francisco, California where he owned a repair business for electronic equipment. He moved back to Warsaw, Missouri where he opened the Osage Deli and Ice Cream Shop. He retired to Edwards, Missouri.

Hunting and fishing was his favorite thing in life and he spent as much time as possible enjoying the outdoors.

He was a loving father and brother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
