Alexander Zagar

Alexander I. Zagar, son of Alexander and Helen Dorron Zagar, was born, December 12, 1915 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, Tuesday, October 07, 2008 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years, nine months and twenty-five days. Alexander was married to Dorothy Elliott Moellmann and to this union two sons were born. After Dorothy's passing, he was united in marriage to Faye Alta Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Elliott Zagar and his second wife, Faye Alta Zagar; two sisters, Elizabeth Zagar and Jane Frances Boduck; one brother, Steven Zagar. Survivors include his two sons, Robert A. Zagar and wife Lou Ann and Lawrence R. Zagar; grandchildren, Jacqueline Ann Theodore and husband Steve, Robert A. Zagar, Jr. and Katherine Elliott Gregston and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Taylor Theodore, Blake Steven Theodore, Will Michael Theodore, Robert A. Zagar, III, Madeline Elliott Gregston and Emery Kate Gregston all of St. Louis, Missouri. Alexander was raised in Shrewsberry, Missouri where he attended school at St. Michaels. He was a sheet metal worker and owned his own business. For thirty years Alexander made the Lake of the Ozarks his home. He was a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II. While he was serving his country he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, a Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Alexander was a member of the VFW. He was a member of St. Michaels Church in St. Louis, Missouri. In his spare time, Alexander enjoyed the outdoors, especially horse shoes and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and enjoying the beauty of the lake. Alexander was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. He touched many lives and we will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
