ALLAN DeMINT Allan Leonard DeMint, son of Myrick and Ruby E. Fletcher DeMint, was born, September 16, 1923 in Norborne, Missouri. He departed this life, Tuesday, August 9, 2011, in Lakeside Meadows, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years, ten months and twenty-four days. On January 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Sellon and to this union two children were born. Together they shared forty-two years of marriage before her passing on June 5, 1988. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis DeMint; a daughter, Cynthia DeMint Bratton and three brothers, Homer, Fletcher and Jimmy DeMint. He is survived by a granddaughter, Angela Bratton and companion Kevin Williams; a great-grandson, Shawn Cochran all of Lebanon, Missouri and a sister, Ruby Taylor of Soldotna, Alaska and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Allan was raised in the Hardin, Missouri area. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He was a radioman stationed in Burma, India. After being honorably discharged, he married Dorothy and they made their home in Lexington, Missouri. He owned and operated DeMint Television and Appliances in Lexington for many years. In 1975 he and his wife moved to the Greenview area of Lake of the Ozarks. He operated a television and radio repair business in Sunrise Beach until he retired. Allan was active in his community. He was a member of the V.F.W Post 4052, American Legion Post 60, Elks Lodge #749, Knight of Columbus, Masonic Lodge #149 and the Order of the Eastern Star #249 all in Lexington, Missouri. He was a member of the American Legion Post 624 in Sunrise Beach, Missouri. He held a pilot's license for most of his adult life and enjoyed flying every chance he got. He enjoyed attended tractor pulls with his good friend, Johnny Dye. He was always interested in Electronics and was an avid reader. Most of all, time spent with his family, especially with his granddaughter, brought him joy. He was a loving grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2011 in Lexington Memory Gardens, Lexington, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to Lion's Eye Research Foundation and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
