ANN WILLIAMS Norma Ann Williams, daughter of the late James Monroe and Retha Caldona Cheek Stephens, was born, March 14, 1940 in Welch, Oklahoma. She departed this life, Monday, October 1, 2007 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, six months and seventeen days. In 1959 in Pittsburg, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Thomas Larry Williams and to this union, two sons were born. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2006. Surviving are her sons, Meredith Grant Williams and wife Alison of Olathe, Kansas and Matthew G. Williams of Roach, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Zwahlen of Columbus, Kansas and Mildred Cundy and husband Pete of Kansas City, Kansas; a brother, Bucky Pickering and wife Cathy of Okemah, Oklahoma and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ann was raised in Kansas and after her marriage to Larry; they made their home in Frontenac, Kansas for several years before moving to Baxter Springs, Kansas in 1973. In 1987, they moved to Independence, Missouri and in 1997 retired to the lake area. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Ann had worked in a radio station and a flower shop. She later became an office manager and enrollment coordinator for Independence College of Cosmetology and later Lake University of Cosmetology. Ann was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, Kansas. In her spare time, she enjoyed oil painting, cross stitch and collecting Precious Moments figurines. She had a musical gift and played the violin in school and later enjoyed playing dulcimers that her husband and son made. She loved living on the lake and fishing. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Ann was a loving mother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she made her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2007 in Oak Hill Cemetery near Chetopah, Kansas under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. No formal visitation will be held, however friends may call in the funeral home, Tuesday, October 9, 2007 from 12-5 p.m. Memorial may be made to the American Heart Association or Arthritis Foundation and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
