Bonnie Opal Golden

Bonnie Opal Golden was born September 15,1942 at her family home to parents, James Ivan Golden and Opal Marie (Mantlo) Golden. She departed this earthly life of 79 years and went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2022. Bonnie grew up on a farm just eight miles outside of Princeton, Missouri in Mercer County. She enjoyed her life there with her four brothers and two sisters. The family of siblings were very musically talented and played a variety of instruments. The siblings were also gifted with singing, and Bonnie loved to sing. She certainly was the one who could remember songs so easily! She was known for her sweet, little smile that she would give you when she liked something, or her devious frown when she didn’t! You always knew “the look”! Her giggle was contagious and she could get you tickled at merely nothing. She attended first through fourth grade in a one room school house, and then attended Princeton Grade School through the 8th grade. Having a disability, Bonnie was unable to further her education at the high school level. However, she excelled in being able to spell and to write letters! And she had a memory that could recall things in detail, that most others could not. Although shy in nature, she had a true chattiness with her sweet mama. The family continued on the farm until her father passed away in 1985. Then she and her mother moved to the Lake of the Ozarks to live with her youngest sibling, Pauline and husband, George. Bonnie later moved into a group home facility in Lebanon, Missouri where she spent the next 24 years of her life. She loved the many good friends she had there and was very happy to have a community all her own. She loved getting to go on outings, especially out to eat, and was a collector of cash when family visited because she always needed cash for the vending machines! She never turned down a soda pop. If you were visiting, she would certainly ask if you brought her one! In November 2016, Bonnie was no longer physically able to care for herself, and she was moved to Ozark Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri where she spent her remaining days until her passing. Again, she encountered many friends there, and the staff was so very loving to her and gave her the best of care. The one thing Bonnie loved about being there was the fact that her siblings and friends would come play music at the Care Center and that she could join in the singing once again! Bonnie was preceded in death by her Parents Ivan and Opal Golden; Grandparents Charles & Amanda (Reid) Golden, James & May (Miller) Mantlo; Brothers: Wayne (Moyle) Golden, Charley Dayle Golden, Brother-in-law, George Burton; Sisters: Wilma Golden, and Dorothy Bays Moffitt (Floyd/Delmar); along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Bonnie’s survivors include: Brother, Cody (Jean) Golden of Avondale, Arizona; Brother, Denver (Mary Ann) Golden of Linn Creek, MO; and Sister, Pauline Burton of Montreal, Missouri; along with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at a later date with great nephew, Dr. Tyson Lambertson to officiate. Burial will be at the Half Rock Cemetery in Mercer County, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
