Delma Rivers

DELMA RIVERS Delma Annette Rivers, daughter of Charles Alexander and Annette Marie Root MacDonald, was born, January 18, 1921 in Omaha, Nebraska. She departed this life, Thursday, November 7, 2013, in her home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years, nine months and twenty days. On July 29, 1937 in Papillion, Nebraska she was united in marriage to Jonathan Patrick Rivers and to this union five children were born. Together they shared fifty-five years of marriage until his passing in May of 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Isabelle Riley; three brothers, Charles MacDonald, Fritz MacDonald and Neil MacDonald and a grandson, Johnny Elmore. Survivors include five children, Sharon Hobbs and husband Francis of Richland, Missouri, Denis "Butch" Rivers and wife Julie of McIntosh, Florida, Nancy Capps and husband Jim of Camdenton, Missouri, William C. Rivers of Pipe Creek, Texas and Tim Rivers and wife Patty of Citra, Florida; fifteen grandchildren, Toots Banner and wife Ronda, Tammi Martin, Angie Webster and husband Kenneth, Doug Armstrong and wife Angela, Richard Armstrong and wife Candy, Kim Rivers and Rick Butler, Tesha Fredericks and husband Scott, Deke Rivers, Dawnita D'elia and husband Greg, Colter Capps and wife Paula, Chandel Kaus and husband Rocky, Renee Zillner and husband Chuck, Sheila Rivers, Julie Lott and husband Russ and Tracy Rivers; thirty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Delma was raised in the Omaha, Nebraska area. After they were married they traveled to Lordsburg, New Mexico, where they both worked on a ranch. They later moved to Nebraska. In 1957 they settled in Camdenton and enjoyed winters in Florida. For years Delma performed in the family's Golden Horse Troop. They traveled extensively performing at rodeos, fairs, and other events. When she was not performing, she was behind the scenes sewing costumes, and keeping everyone in line. She was the heart of the family's. Their High Diving Mules act traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and all over the United States. Delma made a profession of faith and was a member of the Laclede Cowboy Church. In her spare time, she loved to travel. Any chance she got to go somewhere, she would take it. Most of all, time spent with her family was precious to her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mistwood Cemetery, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
