DOROTHY LORRAINE HOPKINS Dorothy Lorraine Hopkins was born October 8, 1915 in her grandparents' home in Kansas City, MO daughter of Reverend Duvall Earl and Estella Bay Freed Allen. She departed this life Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Ozark Rehabilitation and Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of 92 years and 21 days. She was united in marriage to George Cecil Hopkins on May 4, 1934, at his parents' home in Camdenton, MO. This happy union lasted for 65 years. The family was involved in several business ventures and Dorothy spent her life as the homemaker. Cecil preceded her in death on October 1, 1999. Her parents also preceded her in death. Dorothy is survived by her son James Allen Hopkins, and his wife, Irene, as well as her daughter, Dorothy Janet Barnes; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law and his wife, a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born and raised in a Christian environment as her father was a lifelong Baptist minister. As a young woman Dorothy played the piano and sang specials in church. She graduated from Camdenton High School, Camdenton, MO. After she and Cecil were married, Dorothy and Cecil lived in Camdenton, moved to Lebanon and returned to the Camdenton area after several years. Dorothy was a Baptist churchgoer all her life and supported the start of New Beginnings Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. Dorothy was a very talented seamstress. She had made many beautiful garments. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
