DOROTHY ANDERSON Dorothy "Dottie" Louise Anderson, daughter of Bertel Knudsen and Elise Nagel Knudsen, was born, November 10, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri. She departed this life, Thursday, August 21, 2008 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years, nine months and eleven days. On August 2, 1948 in Dallas, Texas, she was united in marriage to H.H. "Andy" Anderson and to this union two children were born. Together they shared thirty-two years until his passing in September of 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings. Survivors include her children, David Anderson and wife Janee Briesemeister of Austin, Texas and Ann Anderson Parsons and husband Pete of Henderson, Nevada; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie and Peter Parsons and Alice and Colin Anderson; three brother, James, Richard and Ernest Knudsen; a sister, Marie Schaffer and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Dorothy was raised in St. Louis, Missouri and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in the class of 1943. She attended Washington University for two years and then moved to New York City where she was a fashion dress designer. In 1947, she moved to Dallas, Texas and was married shortly after. She retired to the lake area in 1985. She was proud to have designed and was general contractor for the houses she lived in. She had been very active in the lake community for the past twenty-three years. She was past president of the Newcomers/Longtimers Club; Ozark Red Hat Damsels; in a Bridge Club and donated to the Lake Arts Council and Camden County Museum in Linn Creek. She was an expert cutter of wooden jigsaw puzzles and was a talented artist. She enjoyed playing classical music on her piano and engaged in numerous hobbies including restoring a prized doll house now on display at the Miniature Museum in St. Louis and providing pen and ink sketches for homes on the annual Osage Beach Home Tour. She recreated the famous "Angel Tree" from the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art by hand crafting ceramic angels including their garments and mini-lights as well as hand painting an 18-piece Nativity set. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her many accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 25, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. A private graveside service and burial will be Friday, August 29, 2008 in Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
