DR. MAURICE NIEMANN DR. MAURICE NIEMANN Dr. Maurice Clifton Niemann, son of Earhart Charles and Sabra Estes Niemann, was born, October 13, 1923 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky. He departed this life, Friday, November 11, 2011, in Windsor Estates Care Center, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of eighty-eight years and twenty-nine days. On July 4, 1945 in Bloomington, Indiana, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Goin. Together they shared fifty-five years of marriage before her passing on January 8, 2001. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean "Jeanne" Webb on September 22, 2010 in their home in Camdenton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane; his parents and a sister, Eulee Ball. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Webb Niemann of the home; two sisters, Margaret Riley and husband James of Georgia and Evelyn Smith of Kentucky; four step-daughters, Thelma Miller and husband Doug, Coni Riley and husband John and Beth Noel and husband Steve Shulz all of Jefferson City, Missouri and Linda Webb and husband Paul of Royalton, Illinois; five step-grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews, Robert Ball, Charles Ball, Mark Smith, Ron Smith, Denice Wright, Debbie Wright, James Riley, Ruth Riley and Ann Nettles and a host of other relatives and many friends. Maurice was raised in Kentucky and lived in Lexington, Kentucky where he was a graduate of Henry Clay School in January of 1941. Later that same year he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country in during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he started college. He was proud of his time in the Navy and was the first patient seen at the V.A. Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated in 1950 from Northern Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He was in an optometric practice in Bloomington, Illinois from 1952-1960. He and Jane moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1960, where he associated and practiced with Dr. Grey in Camdenton. In 1963, he became the owner of Lake Family Vision Center which he operated until his retirement in 1988. He and Jane owned and operated a resort on EE before moving near Lake Valley. Maurice was saved as a young boy and was a member of Decaturville Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Camdenton Rotary Club, Lake Valley Country Club where he served as two terms as President and a life-member of the Optometric Association. He loved golf and enjoyed stained glass. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle and step-father and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Laughlin Cemetery, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Decaturville Missionary Baptist Church and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
