DR. WILLIAM MICHAEL "MIKE" McDONALD Dr. William Michael McDonald, son of William Carl and Ada Maxine Shackleford McDonald, was born April 12, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas. He departed this life, Saturday, January 26, 2013, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of fifty-nine years, nine months and fourteen days. On July 8, 1978 in Kirksville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Terry Kay Shapiro. Together they shared thirty-four years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine McDonald. Survivors include his wife, Terry McDonald of Camdenton, Missouri; seven children, Jessie McDonald of Austin, Texas, William Jared McDonald and wife Karen of Fort Valley, Georgia, Vera McDonald of Rogers, Arkansas, Michael McDonald and wife Chandra of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Kristina McDonald, Marina McDonald and Joshua McDonald all of Camdenton, Missouri; his father, Carl McDonald and wife Sue of Tuscumbia, Missouri; a brother, Pat McDonald and wife Angie of Wentzville, Missouri and other relatives and many friends. Mike was raised in Tuscumbia and was a graduate of Tuscumbia High School in the class of 1971. He served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Kirksville, Missouri and began classes at Northeast Missouri State University. It was there that he met and married Terry. He received his D.O. from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did his internship in Atlanta, Georgia. He later spent three years practicing in Eastern Kentucky and twenty years in Montezuma, Georgia. In 2007 he moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and spent five years at the Lake Regional Clinic in Laurie, Missouri. Mike was baptized at the age of twelve in the Christian Church in Tuscumbia. He was received into the Catholic Church in 2006 and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Camdenton. He was past president of the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association. He had a passion for helping those in need. From 1990-1998 he volunteered for numerous overseas medical mission trips. He traveled to such places as Honduras, Ghana and Sudan. He also volunteered for Medical Missions for Christ in Camdenton. In his spare time he enjoyed playing the guitar. He loved being a doctor and being around people. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday in St. Anthony Catholic Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in St. Anthony Catholic Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery, Tuscumbia at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to Mercy Ships http://www.mercyships.org/, Catholic Medical Mission Board http://www.cmmb.org/, or Baptist Medical and Dental International http://www.bmdmi.org/guaimaca/index.php, and left at the funeral home or the church. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
