Eugene Ray Erby

Eugene Ray Erby, son of the late Bertie (Vincent) Erby, was born on October 4th, 1932 and departed this life on July 5th, 2023. At the time of his passing, Eugene was ninety years – nice months and one day of age.


Eugene was preceded in passing by his mother and twin sister, Patricia Mankin.


He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Erby; two children, Mark and Darren as well as Mark’s wife Kathy. His sister, Jen Vollmer; three grandchildren, Jessica Truelove, Kelly Erby and Nicholas & wife Elizabeth Erby; five grandchildren, Gracie, Litton, Aiden, Archer & Pryor. He also leaves behind many friends and family members who will truly miss him.


Gene was born and raised in the St. Louis, Missouri area, where he would attend school. After he finished his schooling, he was united in marriage to Helen Tanskley in Granite City, Illinois; together they shared seventy-one years of marriage. They raised their family in St. Louis where he worked at General Motors during an accomplished career. As a family they enjoyed spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks before moving to the lake in 1982.


Gene was a Coast Guard axillary member as well as a pillar of the Camdenton Assembly of God Church where he taught Sunday school for over 30 years.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Officiating the services will be Pastor Greg Mills and Pastor Mike Holman. Following the services, there will be a lunch provided for those who would like to attend at Camdenton First Assembly of God Church.


Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
