Obituary for Flossie Martin

Flossie Martin, daughter of Issac Nathaniel and Mary Elizabeth Luttrell, was born, February 26, 1926 in Crawford County, Missouri. She departed this life, Friday morning, June 28, 2019, in Arrowhead Senior Living, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of ninety-three years, four months and two days.

In October of 1941 at the Brumley old Post Office, she was united in marriage to Henry E Martin and to this union three children were born. Together they shared fifty years of marriage before his passing on April 14, 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers and sisters and two grandsons.

Flossie is survived by her three children, Mary Snelling and husband Ed of Linn Creek, Missouri; Charlie Martin and wife Connie of Montreal, Missouri and Betty Caudle of Fulton, Missouri; eight grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Flossie was raised in the Brumley area and at the age of fifteen married Henry and moved to Linn Creek, Missouri where she lived the rest of her life. She worked in the Turkey Bend area at the resorts cleaning cabins before she went to work at the Old Smorgasbord Restaurant as a food preparer. Flossie worked right along beside Henry on their farm.

Flossie was saved at a camp meeting at Linn Creek Baptist Church and had been a member there since 1954.

In her spare time, she loved to sew and make crafts and beautiful quilts for her family and friends. Flossie and Henry could often be found camping at McCubbin’s Point or Pomme De Terre. She loved taking care of her cats. She was known for her cocoa gravy and homemade biscuits. She was known as “Granny” by the many who knew her.

Flossie was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2019 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service in the funeral home.
