FRANK "RUSS" MIFFLIN Frank Russell Mifflin, son of Frank Jefferson and Jessie Butler Mifflin, was born, December 19, 1925 in Ava, Illinois. He departed this life, Friday, February 1, 2008 in University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years, one month and thirteen days. On August 6, 1949 in Ava, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Van Hoy and to this union three children were born. Together they shared the past fifty-eight years. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Martha Marie Mifflin. Survivors include his loving wife, Jean Mifflin of the home; three children, Lloyd Mifflin and wife Sue of Rockwall, Texas, Dale Mifflin and wife Ilona of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Cherie Sunderman and husband Marty of Edwards, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Heather Broder and husband Dave, Shawna Moreland and husband Joe, Geoffrey Mifflin, Rachel Woodruff and husband Colin, John Sunderman and wife Laura, Ryan Sunderman and wife Kelly, Tricia Webb and husband Mike and Kim Sunderman; twelve great-grandchildren, Madison and Holden Moreland, Kaila Broder, Jason Woodruff, Claire, Jacob, Cole, Troy, Tyler and Lexi Sunderman and Kylie and Kaitlyn Webb; a brother, Ellis Mifflin and wife Agnes of Shelbyville, Illinois; four sisters, Lenora Ziha of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Morris and husband Leroy of Largo, FL, Margie Brownfield and husband Shelby of Shelbyville, Illinois and Trudy Woessner and husband Le Roy of Shelbyville, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Russ was raised in the Ava, Illinois area and attended school there. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Illinois, where he met and married Jean. Together they moved to St. Louis where they made their home and lovingly raised their children. He worked for General Motors in St. Louis and retired after thirty-one years of service. In December of 1982, they retired to the Lake of the Ozarks. He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Ozark Bethel Chapel Assembly of God Church. He loved his church and helped build the current church facility. Russ was a happy person and enjoyed the quiet moments in life. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating and skiing and more recently spent time hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in Ozark Bethel Chapel Assembly of God Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Allee Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Ozark Bethel Chapel Building Fund and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
