GIDEON MARKEN Gideon Andrew Marken, son of Gideon Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Doidge Marken, was born, April 22, 1917 in Hampton, Iowa. He departed this life, Thursday, March 14, 2013, in Windsor Estates Care Center, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of ninety-five years, ten months and twenty days. On April 22, 1972 in Monmouth, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Gwen Hazel Craighton. Together they shared forty years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Esther Shear and two brothers, Ralph Marken and A.J. Marken. Survivors include his wife, Gwen Marken of Camdenton, Missouri; three sons, Gideon Andrew Marken and wife Jeannine of Sunnyvale, California; James Michael Marken and wife Linda of Sunnyvale, California and Clinton Cray Marken and wife Diane of Valley Mills, Texas; a step-son, Jerry Lynn Bell and wife Katie of Camdenton, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kevin Marken of Des Moines, Iowa, Cindy Myers and husband Aaron of Sunnyvale, California, Robin Carrasco and husband Alfredo of Reno, Nevada, Tracy Laidlaw and husband Jason of Peoria, Arizona, G.A Marken and wife Lou of San Diego, California, Melanie Jackson and husband David of Rochester, New Hampshire and Brandi Vachon and husband Leon of Lewiston, Massachusetts; two step-grandchildren, Onnalee Burns and husband Brandon of Columbia, Missouri and Renee Saxmon and husband David of Brunswick, Georgia; fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Gideon was raised in Hampton, Iowa. He was a farmer and worked for Mid-America Dairyman, now known as Dairy Farmers of America. Gideon made a profession of faith and was a member of Community Christian Church in Camdenton. Farming was his life and what he enjoyed doing most. He had been a member of the Moose Lodge in Camdenton. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Community Christian Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday in the church. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice and left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
