Homer Jones, Jr.

Homer Jones Jr., son of Homer Jones Sr. and Beulah Shivers Jones, was born, December 6, 1937 in Montreal, Missouri. He departed this life, Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years, nine months and one day.


On October 7, 1977 in Camdenton, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Lois A. Ritter and together they shared nearly forty-five years of marriage.


He was preceded in death by his parents, his great-granddaughter, Carolina Lynn, his infant sister, Betty Lee and his son-in-law, Steve Harvey.


Survivors include his wife, Lois Jones of the home; his children, Brenda Danuser and husband Ronnie, Janet Lawrence and husband Ronnie, Teresa Arnone and husband Oscar, Michael Jones and significant other, Trish Stanley all of Montreal, Missouri, Shelia Harvey of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Tim Cross and wife Michelle of Lebanon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Mary Beth Danuser, Courtney Arnone and significant other, Nick Bonnett, Scott Danuser and wife Judy, Amanda Lynn and husband Roy, Chad Arnone and wife Becca, Mekahlia Jones and husband Ben Beard, Brandy Beckman and husband Chris, Chelsea Harvey, Tyler Harvey and significant other Irene Duswalt, Krystal O’Donoghue and husband Aaron, Jason Cross and Autumn Cross; eighteen great-grandchildren; his aunt Burley Shivers of Lebanon, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.


Junior grew up in Montreal and was a graduate of Stoutland High School. After graduation, he moved to Texas where he worked on the shipping docks. He then came back to Montreal and worked in the construction industry for many years as well as the ASCS until his retirement. Junior loved working in his big garden every year and took pride in his yard and farm. He could always be found working outside somewhere. He served for several years on the Freedom Cemetery Board and on the ASCS Board.


Junior attended Freedom Church for many years.


In his spare time when he was younger, he enjoyed shooting trap. He loved watching Fox News, playing cards, going to Rodeo’s, the Pigeon Swap, going to the coffee shop with his friends and people watching. The time he treasured most, was when he was with his family and grandchildren.


He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, nephew and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.


A special thank you to the ICU and PCU nurses and doctors at Lake Regional Hospital for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.


Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2022 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. till time of service in the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Freedom Cemetery and left at the funeral home.
