James Tillman Boyd, son of Tillman Oran and Dora Amelia Gibson Boyd, was born, May 24, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in University Hospital Burn Center, Columbia, Missouri at the age of sixty-two years, five months and nineteen days. On March 20, 1976 in Bethel Temple, St. Louis, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Karen Marie Cunningham. Together they shared the past thirty-two years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hughie Boyd. Survivors include his loving wife, Karen Boyd of the home; six sisters, Velma Boyd and Esther Boyd both of St. Louis, Missouri, Louise Baumbach and husband Lowell of Cuba, Missouri, Fern Wilder and husband Kevin of Waterloo, Illinois, Ruth Baumbach and Amelia Campbell and husband Jerry all of St. Louis, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; his father-and mother-in-law, Neal and Irene Cunningham of Camdenton, Missouri and a host of other relatives and many friends. He was raised in St. Louis and attended school there. As a young boy he worked for Stelmachies Grocery Store and later for Watlow Electric. He attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and began a career in the ministry. He and his wife were pastors in various locations and were on the Evangelist field for a time for the Assemblies of God. He had an Administrator's License and was Administrator of Group Children's Homes in Texas. He and his wife moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2000 where he worked as a door greeter for Wal-Mart in Osage Beach. James made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of First Assembly of God in Camdenton. He loved people and had imparted knowledge to boys as a Royal Ranger Commander. He loved to sing and had a beautiful singing voice. Singing for the Lord was one of his greatest joys. James was a loving husband, brother, uncle and son-in-law and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered by many whose lives he has touched. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2008 in Camdenton First Assembly of God Church under the direction of Allee Holman Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
