James Earl Ellis

James Earl Ellis, son of Glenn and Loraine Holiday Ellis, was born June 21, 1943 in Joplin, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, three months, and thirteen days. On June 27, 1987, Jim was united in marriage to Pamela Jean Pope, and together they shared nineteen years until her passing on July 18, 2006. Jim was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children, Eric Ellis, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Sabrina Ellis of Pennsylvania, Chris Ellis of Pennsylvania, and Bradley Ellis, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; a step-son, Tommy Swearengin and wife Jayne, of Minnesota; a brother, Robert Ellis, of Carthage, Missouri; two sisters, Margaret (Perk) Russell and Helen Owens, both of Joplin, Missouri; five grandchildren, J.D., Lee, Danielle Ellis, Adam and Conner Swearengin; a number of nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Jim spent his younger years living in the Joplin area. He entered into the United States Navy and proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Randolph. Following his honorable discharge, James worked various jobs until starting his career as a Painter for the Ford Motor Company in Liberty, Missouri, and worked there for thirty-six years until his retirement. Jim was a lifetime member of the VFW Sugar Creek Memorial Post 3976 in Independence, Missouri. He was a hard worker and was always quick to lend a hand to those in need. He enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing whenever possible. He was a talented woodworker and never found a project he couldn’t handle. Jim was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Climax Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
