They made their home together in Bonne Terre and the surrounding Lead Belt Area until moving to Union, Missouri in 1960 for thirty-six years and where all five children graduated high school. In 1996, after he and Barbara retired, they moved and made their home in Camdenton, Missouri for sixteen years before his death. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Calvert; a daughter, Vicki Lynne Lehman and a step-great grandson, Dallas Henrickson.
