JOE KNOLL Joseph Henry Knoll, son of Joseph Nicholas and Anna Rotter Knoll, was born, December 6, 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, Tuesday, December 14, 2010, in Laurie Care Center, Laurie, Missouri at the age of ninety years and eight days. On May 1, 1943 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he was united in marriage to Ada Louise Niemeyer and to this union three children were born. Together they shared sixty-six years of marriage before her passing on June 8, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judith Marie Knoll Bell and two brothers, Larry Knoll and Vernon Knoll. Survivors include a son, John Knoll and wife Diane of Roach, Missouri; a daughter, Jeanne Niehaus and husband Vincent of Washington, Missouri; six grandchildren, Anna Marie Leezer and husband Dan of Camdenton, Missouri, John Scott Knoll and wife Tamara of Linn Creek, Missouri, Jennifer Fischer and husband Chris of Union, Missouri, Christopher Niehaus and wife Stacy of Eureka, Missouri; Thomas Bell and wife Donna of Linn Creek, Missouri and Todd Bell and wife Katie of the state of Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Stacey Leezer Phelps, Erin Leezer, Joseph Knoll, Nicholas Bell, Jeremy Bell, Brandy Ferguson and Tony Sohm; six great-great-grandchildren, Logan and Addie Phelps, Ava Fischer, Dillion Sohm, Kobe Sohm and Blair Ferguson; a sister, Bernice Studt of Maryland Heights, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Joe was raised in St. Louis and attended school there. He served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. After being honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal, he returned to St. Louis. He worked as a molder in the steel industry most of his life. He and Ada retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1994. Joseph was baptized into the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton. He was a member of the American Legion Post 213 in Maryland Heights, Missouri for over sixty-four years. He loved being outdoors, especially doing yard work. He enjoyed bowling and pitching horseshoes and played on various leagues. Feeding and watching birds brought him hours of enjoyment. He was a very hard worker and a devoted family man. Most of all, her enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He was a loving father and grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2010 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., Friday in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure St Louis Affiliate at www.komenstlouis.org or left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
