Lucy Mae Hines

MAE HINES Lucy Mae Hines, daughter of Brigham Milton and Georgia Virginia Muncy VanHorn, was born, February 5, 1923 in Louisa, Kentucky. She departed this life, Monday, September 16, 2013, in Lakeside Meadows, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of ninety years, seven months and eleven days. On June 23, 1945 in Albany, Georgia, she was united in marriage to Richard Lowe Hines and to this union three children were born. Together they shared fifty-seven years of marriage until his passing on March 24, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hines and thirteen siblings. Survivors include her children, Harry L. Hines and wife Lucille A. of Rolla, Missouri, Thomas Hines and wife Linda of Brighton, Missouri and Patricia D. Thomason and husband Wayne of Webb City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Megan Hines of San Francisco, California, Anna Capron and husband Dale of Huntsville, Alabama, Cheri Wagner and husband Don of Neptune Beach, Florida, Elaine Hines of Little Rock, Arkansas, Samantha Thomason of Webb City, Missouri, Eric Thomason of Springfield, Missouri and Matthew Thomason of Webb City, Missouri; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Emma Faye Carter of Gallatin, Tennessee, Maude Hall of Portsmouth, Virginia and Dorothy McLean of Louisa, Kentucky and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mae was raised in Louisa, Kentucky and graduated from high school at the age of sixteen. After working some odd jobs, she joined the Army at the age of twenty. She served her country proudly in the United States Women's Auxiliary Corp during World War II. After her marriage, they lived in various places as husband was career military. In 1971 they retired to the Lake of the Ozarks. She made a profession of faith and was a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, Osage Beach. Mae was a member of the Eastern Star, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Camdenton and was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. She was also a member of the Show-Me State Grand Representatives Club and a charter member of "On The Square Club". In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, flowers and dogs. She knew a lot of "woods lore" and enjoyed sharing her knowledge. Most of all, time spent with her family was precious to her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 in Harper Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Eastern Star Rites being conferred. Memorial donations may be made to Harper Chapel United Methodist Church and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
