MAX LABER Harry Max Laber, 93, of Linn Creek, Missouri, passed away, Friday, October 17, 2008 in Ozark Care Center. He was born May 29, 1915 in North Kansas City, Missouri to Harry M. Laber, Sr. and Catherine Casteel Laber. Max served in the Army during World War II and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Quarter Master Corp and was stationed in Japan. In 1937, he married Louise Matthys and together they had two children. Max owned Swift Avenue Transfer in North Kansas City, Missouri until he retired in 1982. His wife preceded him in death in 1969. In 1971 Max married Judy Olson Hiles and in 1985 they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. For many years he enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He had a great love of animals. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Catherine Ruth Spruytte. He is survived by his wife Judy Laber of the home; daughter, Nancy Hayob and her husband Al of Lee's Summitt, Missouri; son, Harold Laber and his wife Betty of Woodland, California; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two brothers, Norman Laber and wife Shirley of Claycomo, Missouri and Carl Laber and wife Judy of Parkville, Missouri. The family would like to thank the staff at Ozark Care Center for their excellent medical care, their support and many kindnesses. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral home with a prayer service to begin at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton. Burial will follow in Mistwood Cemetery (Lake Road 5-58). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Moon Sanctuary, P.O. Box 294, Linn Creek, MO 65052. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
