MAX McCUBBIN Max Thomas McCubbin, son of Jethro Thomas and Laura Yetley McCubbin, was born March 7, 1926, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He departed this life Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, ten months and twenty-two days. On May 26, 2004, in Dallas, Texas, he was united in marriage to Eileen Nason Hager. Together they shared almost nine years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale McCubbin, and a grandson, Shayne Mast. Survivors include his wife, Eileen McCubbin of Camdenton, Missouri; four children, Jeane Cain and husband Dean of Urbana, Missouri, Jay McCubbin and wife Sharon of Camdenton, Missouri, Jane Mast and husband Darwin of State Center, Iowa, and Jeffrey McCubbin and wife Lee of Forest City, Iowa; Muriel Burke, his first wife and mother of his children; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Reba Gummert of Grundy Center, Iowa, and Shirley Dexter of Mansfield, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Max was raised in Green Mountain, Iowa, and began grain farming as a youth with his father in Marshall County, Iowa. After his marriage, he farmed in Grundy County near Conrad, Iowa. Farming was his life passion, having farmed over sixty years. He semi-retired to the Lake of the Ozarks over twenty years ago. Max knew Christ as his Savior and was a member of Branch Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed his church family and appreciated their many prayers and the prayers of others, especially during his recent bout with cancer. He truly loved family gatherings with grandkids, greats, and great-great; golfing with his son; and was a twenty-year member of Lake Valley Country Club. He was an avid race fan and attended many Indy races. He enjoyed traveling, visiting parts of Europe and much of the United States. Max and Eileen spent the winters in the Dallas, Texas area with her children and grandchildren who so appreciated him. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed neighbors and friends. We celebrate his life because of the many lives he touched and encouraged. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Branch Assembly of God Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial will be in Green Mountain Cemetery, Green Mountain, Iowa, at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Memorial donations may be made to Branch Assembly of God Church and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
