Michael J. Schulte of Linn Creek, passed peacefully from this world on May 6th, 2023, at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with Neuroendocrine Cancer. Michael was surrounded by family and died peacefully at home, as was his final wish.
Mike was a long-time “weekender” of the Lake but grew up in Belleville, Illinois. He was born the third child to Joseph and Helen Schulte and attended Belleville Township High School West, class of 1974. A chemist by trade, he dedicated his career to creating paint for Benjamin Moore Paint Company and lived in Belleville until the opportunity presented itself to move full-time to the Lake of the Ozarks, where his heart truly lived. Mike moved to the Lake in 1999 as a full-time resident and continued to share his knowledge of paint with the locals at Dugan’s until he was able to retire and dedicate his life to fishing, gardening, and tractoring. He was the owner of a favorite watering hole, The Ice House on Y Road, for several years, a handyman to many over the years, a favorite drinking or fishing partner to all and host to the neighborhood happy hour. He could always be found cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Mike was maybe proudest in his life of his blended family. He was called husband, father, grandfather and Pop. He is survived by his wife Judy Schulte of Linn Creek, son Ken Schulte of Waterloo, IL, daughters Tammy Kenniston (Mark) of St. Louis, and Amy Rector (Howard) of Jeff City, and extra son Chris Soval of Linn Creek. Brendyn, Elizabeth, Juleana, (Dawn Schulte), Lucas, Kameron, Nicholas, Wyatt, Kayla, Zoey, Zion, Keeven, Laith and Evan, were lucky enough to call him Papa, and Mike was Great Grandpa to Lily and Baby Girl due July 2023. He is also survived by his mother Helen, 3 sisters and 1 brother, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many neighbors, friends and extra “kids”. Mike is preceded in death by his loving father Joseph Schulte and Niece Becky Neighbors.
Mike will be missed by many but we rest easy in knowing that his suffering is done and in the end his battle was won, we will be reunited with him again. His faith never wavered, nor did his strength.
A Celebration of Life service will be offered at Allee Holman Howe Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 14, 2023. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00-3:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Michael’s name and left with or mailed to Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, 15 Clint Ave, Camdenton, MO 65020. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
During the service, there will be a moment of open share for family and friends to share a memory they had with Mike. In preparation for this time, if you would like to share, please write the memory down to be prepared. This is a wonderful time for the family to either reminisce on a fond memory or to hear one they may not have known.
