Obituary for Minnie Fern Burns

Minnie Fern Burns, daughter of Reverend William Patrick and Lucinda Rogers Webster, was born, November 13, 1935 in Camden County, Missouri. She departed this life, Monday, October 29, 2018, in her home, at the age of eighty-two years, eleven months and sixteen days.

On May 15, 1954 in Goshen, Indiana, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, J.D Burns and to this union six children were born. Together they shared sixty-four years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry Burns; her grandson, Jeromy; her granddaughter, Jonie; two sisters, Rosie McGuire and Lillian Burns and four brothers, Clarence “Bug” Webster, Dane Webster, Roy Webster, Lee “Pete” Webster.

She is survived by her husband, J.D. Burns of the home; her children, Wesley and Rhonda Burns of Lebanon, Missouri, Wayne and Trisha Burns of Eldridge, Missouri, Linda and Marlan Myers of Lebanon, Missouri, David and Karen Burns of Holt Summit, Missouri, Darrell Burns of Lebanon, Missouri and George Rooffener of Eldridge, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; daughter-in-law Karen Shoemaker of Camdenton, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Fern was raised in the Camden County area and had attended Pleasant Hill School. She had known J.D. all her life and when she was eighteen they met at Ira Church and have been together ever since. She moved to Michigan to help her family by babysitting and J.D. followed her there. They were married in Indiana and lived in Michigan for around eleven years before moving back to Camden County. Fern had worked at Blair Cedar about eleven years before driving a school bus for Camdenton R-III Schools for over fifteen years. She loved seeing the children everyday and as they would get on her bus, they knew that she would always greet them with her very special smile. Everyone that met Fern loved her.

Fern had been saved at an early age and was a lifelong member of Webster Grove Missionary Baptist Church, which her dad had built. She shared her love for our Lord Jesus Christ with many.

In her spare time, she would be found always taking care of others and making everyone feel loved. She loved doing puzzles of every type. You could usually find a puzzle book with her at all times. She had blessed many with jigsaw puzzles that she had put together and framed. She loved her dog Reedy.

Fern has blessed so many with precious memories that they will treasure forever. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, aunt and friend and will be truly missed by all. We know that heaven has gained an amazing woman and that we will all be greeted by her when we enter the pearly gates of heaven.
