Robert Donald Schafer, son of Earl C. and Ruth Alice Prain Schafer, was born, March 20, 1940 in Lovelock, Nevada. He departed this life, Thursday, June 4, 2009, in Ozark Rehabilitation and Care Center, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of sixty-nine years, two months and fifteen days. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Eberhart. Survivors include a twin brother, Richard Schafer and wife Betty of Linn Creek, MO; two sisters, Adell Dickelman of Linn Creek, Missouri and Dawn Windsor of Sacramento, California; two other brothers, Earl Schafer of Melbourne, Florida and Kenneth Schafer of the state of New Mexico and a host of nieces, nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends. Robert was raised in Wichita, Kansas and as a young man moved to Wausau, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Wausau High School in the class of 1959. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his county. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class and returned to Wisconsin. He worked at the Fiskars Plant in Wausau and retired after twenty-two years of service. He then moved to Linn Creek, Missouri. In his spare time he enjoyed fly fishing and watching air planes. He was talented in making latch hook rugs and had made many wonderful projects throughout the years. Robert was a loving brother, and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2009 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Zion Cemetery, Linn Creek. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Compass Hospice and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
