Shirlene June Gulley

Shirlene June Gulley, daughter of John W. and Nell I (Gilhaus) Pittman, was born April 14, 1936 in Los Angeles, California. She departed this life Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in Laurie Care Center, at the age of eighty-six years, eight months, and twenty-seven days.


On July 29, 1954, Shirlene was united in marriage to Vaughan Lynn Gulley, and together they shared fifty-four years until his passing on April 26, 2008.


Shirlene was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Deborah Hewitt; a son, Steven Gulley; and her sister, Avaron Hawks.


She is survived by her sons, Larry Gulley and Michael Gulley, both of Edwards, Missouri; and her daughter, Lisa Bush and husband Terry, of Lathrop, Missouri; her grandchildren, Ashley, Travis, Jim, Lacey, Taylor, and Connor; fourteen great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Terry Hewitt, of Kansas City, Kansas; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.

Shirlene grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and was a graduate of Argentine High School in the Class of 1954. She would later move to the Climax Springs area to make her home.


Shirlene worked for many years as a Deputy Sheriff in the Records and Warrant Division in the Camden County Sheriff’s Department until her retirement in 2000.



Shirlene had made a profession of faith and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Climax Springs, Missouri for many years. She loved her church and served in many capacities. She devoted several years as the Church Clerk, taught Sunday School Adult Class, singing in the choir and praise team, working countless Vacation Bible Schools and attending any other church function. She was truly one of the Lord’s Servants.


Shirlene was a loving mom, grandma and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many friends.


Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 16, 2023 in the Climax Springs Cemetery with Pastor Tony Shaw officiating. No formal visitation is scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.


Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Compassus and mailed to Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, 15 Clint Avenue, Camdenton, Missouri 65020.
