ASILAS LUALLEN Silas Lester Luallen, son of Orus Lester and Della May Neighbors Luallen, was born April 3, 1929 in Kasper, Arkansas. He departed this life, Wednesday, January 27, 2008 in his home in Sunrise Beach, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, ten months and twenty-four days. On October 19, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Ella Mae Dwyer. Together they shared the past sixty years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edith Luallen and two brothers, James and Arnold Luallen. Survivors include his loving wife, Ella; a brother, Hubert "Lou" Luallen and wife Thelma of Ashland, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Mary Luallen of Gravois Mills, Missouri and Mary Catherine Loutzenhiser of Lyons, Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews. Silas was raised in Arkansas and during the great depression, moved with his family to Kansas City, Missouri. He was drafted into the United States Army and served his country proudly in Korea during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he and his wife made their home in Long Beach, California. In the early 1960's they moved to Sunrise Beach, Missouri. He worked as a cabinet maker during his working career and made many wonderful cabinets. He had been a member of the V.F.W. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting and always grew a wonderful garden. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always had a story to tell. Silas was a loving husband, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Military honors will be conferred at the funeral home immediately following the service. A private inurnment will be in Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
