Stephen Noble

STEPHEN NOBLE Stephen Obadiah Noble, was born to Roy and Gladys Noble, on November 8, 1928, in Lansing, Michigan. The fourth child, and oldest son of six children. At a young age, the family moved to Burnet, Texas, where Stephen spent his childhood. He married Gladys Laverne Pace, in San Marcos, Texas. Later the young couple moved to the Central Texas area, where they raised eight children. In 1949, Steve went to work for The American Desk Manufacturing Company, in Temple, Texas, where he worked for fourteen years. In 1962, the family moved to the Austin, Texas area, where he went to work in maintenance and janitorial service, for the Public School System. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Royetta Walker and Ruth Tipton and one brother, Reynold Noble. In December 1967, Steve and Gladys lost their three year old son, Michael Anthony Noble. In July, 2008, they lost their eldest son, Curtis Stephen Noble, to cancer. Steve and Gladys loved to travel, and the family also enjoyed camping, fishing, and swimming. The family moved to Camdenton, Missouri in 1983, where he and his family bought forty acres of land, which was later christened, 'Happy Holler'. It was there, Stephen enjoyed his last years, watching his grandchildren at play in the creek, which meandered through the hollow. He loved the flowers and wildlife, watching the birds, tinkering with lawn mowers, and pulling the grandkids around in a wagon, behind his old Craftsman. Above all, Stephen was a man of God. He gave his life to Jesus, at the tender age of eight. He honored and reverenced God all of his days, teaching his children and grandchildren by example, the Word of God, was a light unto their path and a lamp unto their feet. He had a tender heart and couldn't pray without crying. He and his family loved to sing praises unto the Lord. As Stephen was nearing his final days here on earth, he made a statement, which summed up his life, "It matters to God." On May 28, 2012, Stephen Obadiah Noble was taken home by the angels. He is survived by his wife of the home, Gladys, as well as six children: Vala Rose Allen and husband Frank of Boaz, Alabama, Brenda Wehmeyer and husband James of Macks Creek, Missouri, Jo Anne Brogan and husband Jimmy of Camdenton, Missouri, Melissa Albert and husband John of Buffalo, Missouri, Mark Wayne Noble of Camdenton, Missouri and Matthew Ereck Noble of Camdenton, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Leanne Noble of Manor, Texas; nineteen grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Heaven will never welcome a sweeter daddy, and earth will never lose a greater soul. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
