GGRACE BOOKER Alice Grace Booker, daughter of Jesse Clarence and Margaret Elizabeth Huffman Millward, was born, May 23, 1925 in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. She departed this life, Friday, August 22, 2014, in Macks Creek, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years, two months and thirty days. On March 8, 1948 in Paxton, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Christopher Booker and to this union two daughters were born. Together they shared thirty-nine years of marriage until his passing on April 26, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Vivian Marie Rowland and two brothers, Clarence Jesse Millward and Kenneth Lloyd Millward. Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Letterman of Macks Creek, Missouri; the son she never had, Dannie Osborn and wife Kathy of Macks Creek, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Susan Sterling, Chuck Letterman, John Rowland, Jr., Fred Rowland, Mona Rickey, Arlene Wilkerson and Lillian Miller; fourteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane Marion of Gustine, California and Irene E. Finley of Nixa, Missouri and a brother, Wilmer Earl Millward of Beaver Creek, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Grace was raised in Pennsylvania and graduated high school there. After her marriage, they made their home in California and lived in various places while her husband was in the military. They settled in Macks Creek in 1952. She worked as a maid for a family for a number of years and retired from Lan-O-Lac Motel as a maid after having worked there for over thirty years. She made a profession of faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Macks Creek. She was a charter member of V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 5936 in Camdenton. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 20 in Macks Creek. She had also been a member of the American Legion. In her spare time, she enjoyed working outside in her garden and watching the birds. She did crafts, sewing and crocheting. Most of all, she loved time spent with family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. Those who came into her life were loved and treated as her own and most lovingly called her mom or grandma. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home with V.F.W. Auxiliary Honors and Eastern Star Rites beginning at 6:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to V.F.W. or Eastern Star and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
