Barbara Wilken

Barbara Ann Gladwill Wilken of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, was born at home in Columbia, Missouri, to Frank E. and Dorothy J. Wright Gladwill on April 16, 1946. She joined her mother and father in Heaven on June 25, 2017. She was baptized in the Benton City Christian Church, and was a member of First Baptist Church Sunrise Beach. Barb was a graduate of Central Christian College in Moberly and received her Master’s in Elementary Education/Reading Specialist at Fort Hayes Kansas State University. She taught in the Waynesville School District until retirement. December 29, 2001 Barbara married John C. “Jay” Wilken. Also surviving is her sister Emily Jane Gladwill of Beaverton, Oregon, and a host of other family and friends. Barbara was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota Pi Chapter, Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant, Waynesville, Red Hat Club, Kids Club, and Missouri Retired Teachers, and volunteered at Community for Christ. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations to no-kill animal shelters, Central Christian College, White Oak Christian Camp, Gasconade Christian Camp, or Kappa Kappa Iota. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Sunrise Beach Baptist Church, Sunrise Beach, Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m., at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., in Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
