Barton Frank Prather, son of Frank Addison Prather and Irene Nora Taft Prather was born, July 26, 1942 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He departed this life April 19, 2023 at his home in Camdenton, Missouri at the age of eighty years, eight months and twenty-four days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roderic D. Prather, Ardel A. Prather, Richard A. Prather and one sister-in-law, Audrey L. Prather.
He is survived by four nephews, Cary Prather & wife Linda of Camdenton, Missouri, Randy Prather of Sheriden, Wyoming, Frank Prather of San Diego, California, Rick Prather of Houston, Texas; one niece, Christy Page of Spring, Texas; two sister-in-law’s, Kathy Prather of Spring, Texas and Kileen Prather of Austin, Texas. As well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
Barton was a 1960 graduate of Admiral Farragut Preparatory Academy. Barton then proudly served his county in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. He then attended and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming. After college he took a job in Corona, California and later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended the Kansas City Business college receiving a certificate in computer technology.
Barton made a profession of faith and was a member of The Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs, Missouri and after moving to the Lake of the Ozarks he attended the United Methodist Church in Camdenton, Missouri.
In his spare time Barton enjoyed buying and selling stocks, was a member of the Elks Lodge. Most of all you could find him in a book. Barton loved to read his bible daily and read four to five books a week. He enjoyed his beer and at 5:PM every night he would have a couple of cans.
When he was in the Navy he traveled all around the world and had many stories. He loved his family’s ranch in Story, Wyoming and would travel there often. He also enjoyed visiting his brothers and their families. During the 1980’s his favorite vacations was going to Jamaica.
He was a loving and a caring brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2023 in the Allee Memorial Gardens Cemetery Camdenton, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
