Carol Jean Anderson, daughter of Eugene and Virginia Boyd, was born on October 17, 1943, in her grandmother's home near Farmington, Missouri. She departed this life as a beloved daughter, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at the Ozark Rehabilitation and Health Care Services home in Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 26 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Anderson (husband) and Victoria Anderson (daughter).
She is survived by her son, Stephen Anderson of Camdenton, Missouri, daughter Robin Stone and her husband Brian of Arizona, three siblings including sister, Joyce Dowell with husband Gary of Farmington, Missouri, brother Charles Boyd with wife Beverly of Troy, Missouri and sister Nancy Boyd of Louisiana. There were also four grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Desloge High School, Desloge, Missouri followed by a year at Missouri University in Columbia, Missouri before marrying Edward on September 17, 1962 and living in Omaha, Nebraska. Moved to Collinsville, Illinois where her family was started and then in 1970, they would move to Osage Beach, Missouri in the Lake of the Ozarks, and purchase the motel owned by Edward's parents. They would stay in the Lake of the Ozarks for the rest of their lives.
While they would own a few different businesses throughout their tenure in the Lake of the Ozarks, Carol would also refine her love of creating works of art. The same love that she discovered at the age of 10 when she was drawing realistic pictures and creating clothes for her dolls. In high school she would enroll in an art school that provided a 3-year home study course and then continually worked on improving her abilities in this chosen field for the rest of her life.
As her abilities improved, she was able to sell her works to sustain her burgeoning talent of creating art and eventually the thrill of how to teach it to others. Beginning in 1980, she would share (teach) her love of art in the Camdenton VoTech's Adult Education Program while teaching both adults and children in her own home.
While watercolors and oils were her mainstay, she was always trying her hand at other medium for art including 3D paintings, shadow boxes and even creating little scenes from the items she had on hand. Was she good? She had boxes of ribbons that attested to her abilities along with numerous requests to participate in different National Art Shows, but her happiness also extended to her students when they won the ribbons or other accolades for their work.
The last medium she would excel in was wire wrapping polished stones, melted glass or anything else that could be used as an attractive necklace or other piece of unique jewelry. For a short time, when she wasn't painting on canvas, she had joined some friends that would go to festivals as clowns and paint laces.
She was a member of the Ozark Brush and Palette Club of the Lake of the Ozarks even attaining the position of their President for 2 years. She was also a member of the New Home Baptist Church in Camdenton, Missouri.
A viewing and an informal meet and great will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2023 from 10am to noon at the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home on North 5 in Camdenton with a Pot Luck lunch reception afterwards at the New Home Baptist Church.
