Douglas James Baker, “Bake,” son of James H. and Doris J. (Manes) Baker, was born March 5, 1964, in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, December 18, 2025, at his home, at the age of sixty-one years, nine months, and thirteen days.
On December 12, 1993, Bake was united in marriage to Mylissa Miller. To this union, two daughters were born.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Baker.
Bake is survived by his wife, Mylissa Baker, of the home; his daughters, Haylee Baker and Marcus Woods of Camdenton, Missouri, and Emily Williams and husband Cole of Memphis, Indiana; two grandchildren, Nash and Krew Williams; his mother, Doris Jean Baker of Richland, Missouri; two sisters, Carol Wright and husband Shawn of Rolla, Missouri, and Cathy Coleman and husband Darren of Buffalo, Missouri; his father-in-law, Myron “Butch” Miller and wife Mary of Camdenton, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Carol Anderson and husband Robert “Bob” of Fort Worth, Texas; his sister-in-law, Michelle Levitt and husband Ash of Belleville, Illinois; his brother-in-law, Matt Miller and wife Brittney of Macks Creek, Missouri; a dear friend who was like a brother to him, Dwyne Daugherty and wife Julie of Richland, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Bake was a graduate of Richland High School, Class of 1982. He later attended Drury College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in education in 1999, and went on to receive his master’s degree in education from William Woods University in 2005. Doug taught in the Camdenton R-III School District for many years and was instrumental in the LEAP program at Oak Ridge Intermediate. He loved teaching and poured himself wholeheartedly into every student and colleague during his career.
In his spare time, Bake enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and being on the river with friends. You rarely saw him without a Mountain Dew or a bag of Skittles in hand.
Bake was a friend to all and never met a stranger. These qualities defined who he was and added to a legacy that will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm (noon) on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from from 10:00 am until time of service Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in the funeral home.
