Estelle Morris Smith Galloway

Estelle Morris Smith Galloway, daughter of Charles Wesley Morris and Ellen Lydia (Danuser) Morris, was born, October 31, 1922 in Montreal, Missouri. She departed this life, April 28, 2023, in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of one hundred years, five months and twenty-eight days.

Estelle was married to Wilburn Smith and later in life married Vernon Galloway.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wilburn Smith; second husband, Vernon Galloway; two children, Connie Gaylean and Roger Smith; twelve siblings; and two grandsons, Glen Schlenfort and Sean Lantz.

She is survived by two daughters, Jean & husband Jack Karr of Blue Springs, Missouri and Jennie Neeley of Camdenton, Missouri; one brother, Charles “Bud” Morris; fifteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many friends and other family members who will all truly miss her.

In 1939, my mom, Estelle Morris, traveled to Louisiana in the back of a stock truck with her family to homestead some land. She met Wilburn Smith and the two were later united in marriage because her future mother-in-law needed someone to cook for the family because of an injury to her leg. Together, the family moved to Hannibal, Missouri then to Ada, Oklahoma to work sharecropping for his uncle Kent Smith. Later, they moved back to her birth place in Montreal, Missouri.

Estelle made a profession of faith and was a member of Linn Creek Baptist Church.

Mom loved her flowers, loved buying and restoring antiques, and collecting antique dishes. Above all, Mom loved her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a loving mother, grandmother & great-grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Linn Creek Baptist Church and left at the church the day of the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
