Gary Tuman

Gary Lee Tuman, son of Glenn Leroy and Florence Irene Sherk Tuman, was born Monday, April 6, 1936 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He departed this life Sunday, April 19, 2009 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-three years and thirteen days. On January 20, 1968, Gary was united in marriage to Marie Maxine Nielsen and together they shared thirty-seven years until her passing on July 21, 2005. Gary was also preceded in death by his parents. Gary is survived by a son, Michael E. Tuman and wife Lisa of Hesperia, California; three grandchildren, Cory Tuman, Zachary Tuman and Brandy Tuman all of Hesperia, California; a sister Sonja Hunt and husband Richard of Camdenton, Missouri; two nieces, Theresa Lewis and husband Ken, and Dawn McGuire all of Camdenton, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Gary spent his younger years in Iowa and graduated from Janesville High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 1954 to 1958. After being honorably discharged, Gary spent time living in Texas before moving to Waterloo, Iowa in 1966. There he met and married Marie and went to work for the United States Postal Service. They later moved to Whittier, California in 1976 and would remain there until moving to Camdenton in 1991 following Gary's retirement from the Postal Service. In his earlier years Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Memorial services will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening, April 23, 2009 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m., till time of service. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Memorial donations may be made to the family and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
