"Jack William Mahaney, 94, of Climax Springs, Missouri passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Born in Kansas City, Missouri to Otto and Edna (Joy) Mahaney he lived most of his life in the greater Kansas City area. He attended John J. Pershing Elementary School and Paseo High School. Jack was a World War II Army Veteran and served in three campaigns, most notably the Allied offensive on the Gothic Line in Northern Italy and in the subsequent fighting in the central Apennine mountains. Among multiple campaign ribbons he was also the recipient of 3 bronze stars. After the war Jack worked numerous jobs primarily as an automobile mechanic and boat salesman. Upon retirement he moved to his beloved Lake of the Ozarks. Jack is survived by his two sons, Jay Mahaney and Jeffery Mahaney of Overland Park, Kansas; his sister Betty Lance of Lenexa, Kansas; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Leta Faye Mahaney. We will always carry your memory in our hearts. "Per our father's wishes there is no formal service planned nor are cards or flowers necessary. At some future date we plan to hold a 'Celebration of Life' event. "
