Janet Louise Cumper

Listen to Obituary

Janet Louise Cumper, daughter of Everett and Tamzel Papen, was born on March 17, 1945 in California, Missouri. She departed this life, October 6, 2025, in Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty years, six months and nineteen days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Tamzel Papen, her sisters Joyce Thompson and Bonnie Wilson, and her brother Everett Junior.

She is survived by her children, Samantha and Merri; grandchildren, Avery, Spencer, Washington, and Lincoln; her brother Kenyon Papen and his wife Betty Papen, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Janet was born in California, Missouri, and spent her early childhood years living in different towns, but predominantly identified Camdenton, Missouri as home and that is where she attended school. Following her high school graduation Janet worked at various banks around the Camdenton area as well as in Nebraska where she worked until becoming a stay-at-home mother, the profession she identified with the most. Janet had strong faith and was a member of various First Baptist Churches as she relocated throughout her life.

In her spare time Janet enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts, cooking, and baking (especially her famous Texas Sheet Cake and banana bread). She loved to watch James Bond and Indiana Jones, as well as Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments. She loved nature and animals, traveling to the National Parks as often as she could, and reading her impressive book collection. She handed down these passions to her daughters. Janet traveled the world with her family, and lived in eight states, and two countries within her life.

She was a loving mother and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.
