John Ray Baker, son of the late Donald & Marjorie (Aden) Baker, was born on November 19, 1969 and departed this life on July 28, 2025. At the time of his passing, John was fifty-five years, eight months and nine days of age.
John was preceded in passing by his parents; and his four-legged companions Prancer and Peanut.
John is survived by his wife, Susan Baker; four children, Ashley Baker, Kailey Baker, Abbie & husband Dustin Lane and Austin & wife Paige Howe; two grandchildren, Juniper Howe and Camden Lane; two siblings, Phil & wife Marjorie Baker and Danny & wife Jamie Baker; and his beloved four-legged companions, Coco Puff, Dancer (Little S***), Oreo, Bella and Luna. In his passing, John also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and family who will all truly miss him.
John was born & raised in Quincy, Illinois, later graduating from Quincy High School. Following his schooling, he began working in construction. On January 4, 2001, John was united in marriage to Susan Wittler, together sharing twenty-four years of marriage. He would later go back to school to become a firefighter and proudly serve the Sunrise Beach community for eight years. While serving the community in Sunrise Beach, he was also a Real Estate agent; coining the phrase, “I could put your house out if it caught on fire, then rebuild it and then sell it for you.”
In his spare time, John enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR, country line dancing, harassing people with his jokes first thing in the morning, and spending time with his friends and family. John also had a knack for hiding/storing things in precarious places; so, if you happen to know his hidden locations, please let the family know.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to the family.
