JOHNNY COWEN George William “Johnny” Cowen, son of John Delbert and Bonnie Marie Erickson Cowen, was born, December 1, 1935 in Preston, Missouri. He departed this life, Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years, eight months and four days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, George William “Billy” Cowen; a great-granddaughter, Faith Marie McKinnon; a brother, Charles Franklin Cowen and a sister, Bonnie Bell Saluto. Survivors include his companion, Brenda Pendergrass of the home; three daughters, Vera Byler and husband J.C. of Montreal, Missouri, Teresa Cowen and companion Edward Douglas of Camdenton, Missouri and Kayla Cowen and companion Phillip Cotton of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren, William McKinnon and wife Katie of Macks Creek, Missouri, Matthew McKinnon of Camdenton, Missouri, Randal Cowen and wife Ashely of Linn Creek, Missouri, Nicole Byler and companion Robby Bigley of Camdenton, Missouri, TaNisha, Markeisha, Kaylina, Philicia and Daunte Cotton all of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Lou Stoner of Macks Creek, Missouri, Marie Dibben of Independence, Missouri and Willa Altes of North Kansas City, Missouri; the mother of his older children, Wanita Cowen of Camdenton, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Johnny was raised in Tunas, Missouri and lived in Dallas, Hickory and Camden Counties. He worked as a mechanic for Williams Motors for fifteen years. He then began a career in the Ambulance field. He worked for Camdenton Ambulance and later for Miller County Ambulance where he was a paramedic and supervisor. Johnny made a profession of faith and attended Little Niangua Missionary Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed racing go-carts, fishing and doing small engine repair. Most of all, time spent with his family was precious to him. He was a loving companion, father, grandfather brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2015 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Little Niangua Cemetery, Preston. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
