Joyce Marie Crabtree (McKemy), 75, of Linn Creek, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026. Born on September 24, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, Joyce lived a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication to her family and passions.
Joyce pursued her education with determination and excellence. She earned a bachelor's degree in secretarial science from Central Missouri State University and later achieved a master's degree in business from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her academic accomplishments reflected her commitment to learning and personal growth.
Joyce was a devoted wife to her husband, Steven Crabtree of 56 years, and a loving mother to her daughter Hilarie Crabtree Hughes. She cherished her role as Nana to her granddaughter Ashton Hughes, who brought immense joy to her life. Joyce also shared close bonds with her son-in-law Joshua Hughes; her sister Elaine McKemy Heckenkamp; her brother Steven McKemy and his wife Karen McKemy; her cousin Jeanine Crabtree and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Alberta McKemy; her parents-in-law, Vernon "Bud" and Eleanor Crabtree; and her brother-in-law J.R. Crabtree.
Joyce's life was enriched by the hobbies she loved most. She had a passion for crafting that showcased her creativity and skill. She found joy in snow skiing and traveling the world with friends and family, creating countless cherished memories along the way. Many weekends were spent at the lake boating—a pastime that brought relaxation and happiness to Joyce's life. Above all else, she treasured babysitting her beloved granddaughter Ashton, embracing every moment of their time together.
A loving wife, mother, sister, Nana, and friend to many, Joyce will be remembered for the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories shared with family and friends.
