Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Larry Ray Taylor, age 70, of Macks Creek, Missouri was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2026. Larry was born on March 1, 1955, in Springfield, Missouri, a son of Johnny and Olive (Jackson) Taylor.

Early in life, just as kids, he met Judy Clopp while working at her fathers feedstore in Macks Creek. They were eventually united in marriage on October 11, 1974. They shared over 43 loving years together as husband and wife. Larry and Judy were very devoted parents and grandparents who took great joy in being actively involved in the lives of their son and grandchildren.

Following the passing of his beloved wife, he made his home once again on the family’s old farm. He took great satisfaction in the simple rhythms of country life — teaching his grandkids to hunt and fish, and listening to his and Chad’s hunting dogs run across open fields. These moments brought him comfort and contentment.

If you were out on a Saturday morning, you were likely to see Larry at a local swap meet, auction, or sale barn. He appreciated the simple pleasure of browsing and visiting with others, always keeping an eye out for a treasure. Sunday mornings were usually spent at Mt. Horeb Missionary Baptist Church with his grandchildren, where he was a longtime attendee.

Trips to the Rocky Mountains were among his most treasured pursuits. During their marriage, Larry and Judy returned there each year with a group of family and friends, building a legacy of shared experiences. After Judy’s passing, he continued this tradition with his grandchildren, whom he loved introducing to the wonders of the mountains. Confidently navigating the well-known roads by memory, he took particular joy in showing them where elk could be heard at dawn and wildlife could be seen roaming freely. The fresh mountain air, scenic views, and time spent with his family made memories that will be cherished forever.

For the last 20 years, he carried on a very special tradition of spreading Christmas cheer. Christmas was one of his favorite times of the year, and he wanted to make each one extra special for his grandchildren. Dressed in a Santa suit, he would run past a window where his grandchildren waited, their faces lighting up with wonder and excitement.

But above all else, family was everything to him. He showed his love not just in words, but in action — through steady support and time spent together. Larry was a true giver, always willing to lend a helping hand. If someone needed help, he was there — no questions asked. His generosity wasn’t just in what he did, but in who he was. His legacy is one of generosity, love, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished.

Larry is survived by his son Chad Taylor; his grandchildren Bailey Newell and husband, Dayton; Brianna Leach and husband, Caleb; Anthony Taylor, Bentley Campbell, and Bryce Taylor; his great-granddaughter Veda Leach and unborn great grandson Dylan Newell; his brother Bill Taylor and wife, Joyce; his sister Kay Robinson; his nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife Judy Taylor; his grandson Dylan Taylor; and his parents Johnny and Olive Taylor.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 (noon), Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00-12:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Macks Creek, Missouri, following the funeral services.
