Lawrence Donald "Don" Savio

Lawrence Donald (Don) Savio, 94, Osage Beach, MO, died peacefully at home on June 29, 2025. Visitation will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1874 N Business Route 5, Camdenton, MO 65020, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held in the church hall after the service.

Don was born June 1, 1931, in Lexington, MO, to Lawrence Savio and Madeline Beretta Savio. He married Annabelle Cretzmeyer on June 18, 1960. Don joined the Commercial Bank in Lexington, later Bank of America, as a clerk in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He returned to the bank in 1954. Don became president of the bank in 1976. He retired from the bank in 1985 but continued as director until moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1993. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, a past Exalted Ruler of the Lexington Elks Lodge No. 749, and a member and former finance officer of George Thomas Cullom Post No. 60 of the American Legion. He was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington and served as an officer and director of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, the Senior Citizens Board, and the Lions Club.

Don was a past president of the Lexington Industrial Development Corporation and the Lexington United Fund. He served as secretary of the Anderson House-Battlefield Foundation and the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Lexington. He served 16 years as Treasurer of the Lexington R-V School District. He was a former director of the Lazy Days Condominium Owners Association and of the Grand Glaize Safe Boating Association.

Survivors include his wife, Annabelle, of the home; three daughters, Ellen S. Backs and husband John of Versailles KY; Donna S. Kelly and husband Dan of Huntersville, NC; Jane A. Bowman and husband Derek of Derby, KS; five grandsons, Kurtis Backs of Knoxville, TN, Thomas Backs (Krista) of Horse Shoe, NC, Nathan Watson of Erie, CO, Jarrett Bowman (Hailey) of Wichita, KS, and Isaak Bowman of Derby, KS; and two great-grandsons, Carson Watson of Erie, CO and Carter Bowman of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lucille Slusher, and a brother, Walter L. Savio.

Inurnment will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO, at a later date.
