Mary Jane Purtle, daughter of Kirk Thomas and Dorothy Jean Konantz Anderson, was born June 9, 1947 in Fort Scott, Kansas. She departed this life Saturday, May 21, 2016 in Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of sixty-eight years, eleven months, and twelve days. On August 8, 1968, Mary Jane was united in marriage to James Purtle, and together they shared twenty years, until his passing in July, 1988. Mary Jane was also preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her children, Brandon Purtle and wife Lindsay, of Quincy, Illinois, and Angela Lowry, of Camdenton, Missouri; grandchildren, Jesse Brandon Purtle, Saylor Purtle, Connar Purtle, Onea Purtle, Anika Purtle, Nicholas Lowry, Harley Lowry, and James Lowry; great-grandchildren, Purslane Purtle, Jazzmin Lowry, Chasidy Lowry, and Liliana Lowry; her siblings, Kirk Thomas Anderson, Jr. and wife Sonja, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Nancy Vesey and husband Edward, of Olathe, Kansas, and Robert Anderson, of Galveston, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Mary Jane spent her younger years living in Fort Scott, Kansas and was a graduate of Fort Scott High School in the Class of 1965. Following her graduation, Mary Jane met and married James, and to this union two children were born. Mary Jane was active in her children’s lives and had assisted them in both the Boy Scouts and Campfire. She had accepted Jesus as her Savior and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Scott, Kansas. Mary Jane was a founding member of the first all women’s Kiwanis Club in Fort Scott, Kansas, and was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She had spent over twenty years working for Coca-Cola in Fort Scott before moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1991, at which time she began her career as the Office Manager at Kelly’s Port Marina in Osage Beach, Missouri. Mary Jane loved living at the lake and enjoyed spending as much time on the water as possible. Time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, was what she cherished the most. Mary Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fort Scott High School class of 1965 and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri is assisting the family.
