Mildred Gourley

MILDRED GOURLEY Mildred Dorothy Furnell-Elkins Gourley, was born July 25, 1918 in Sedalia, Missouri. She passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the age of ninety-two years, ten months and seven days. She moved to Benton County, Missouri with the family at the age of three months. She lived in Benton, Hickory and Camden counties the rest of her life. At the age of eighteen, she married James Robert Elkins of Climax Springs, Missouri. At the time of their marriage he was employed with Wisconsin Bridge and Iron Company building the Hurricane and Niangua bridges across the Lake of the Ozarks. Later he purchased a saw mill and went into business for himself. He departed this life on August 15, 1970. On October 8, 1976 she was married to Roy Jefferson Gourley of Lebanon, Missouri who passed away November 18, 1989 in Springfield, Missouri. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John Martin Furnell and Maggie Dell Burton Furnell, of Climax Springs, Missouri; one brother Carl Edward Furnell of Mesa, Arizona and twin great-granddaughters, Shannon and Shay Lynn Stringham of Climax Springs, Missouri. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Wilson of Climax Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren, Bobby Jeffries of Climax Springs, Missouri, Sherry Reid and husband Mikel of Buffalo, Missouri, Shawna Scrivener and husband Pat of Climax Springs, Missouri and Richard Stringham and wife Grace of Camdenton, Missouri and eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Paul Martin Furnell of Gardner, Kansas and several nieces and nephews, cousins and many family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery, Climax Springs. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
