Jimmie was born in Zebra, Missouri, and was a graduate of Camdenton High School. Following graduation, Jimmie entered the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a tank operator. Jimmie served twenty years on the Columbia, Missouri Police Department, where he received numerous commendations throughout the years. Most notably were his brave and heroic acts during a motel fire as well as the First Bank West robbery, both in which Jimmie went above and beyond the call of duty.

Following his retirement, Jimmie returned to the Camdenton area and was a member of the VFW Post 5923. He later drove over the road for many years, worked as a Park Ranger at Ha Ha Tonka State Park, and operated Hanks Garage Doors in Camdenton.
