Richard Earl Hicks, 75, of Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026.

Richard lived a life grounded in love for his family, the outdoors, and the simple joys that came with both. He shared a remarkable 50-year marriage with his beloved wife, Colette, who preceded him in death in May of 2024. Their love story began at a young age when they both worked at Kirkwood Lodge, and from that moment on, their lives were intertwined. They married at just 17 and 22 years old, building a lifelong partnership rooted in devotion, resilience, and unwavering love. Together, they loved dancing and spending time watching sports of all kinds, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Richard dedicated much of his career to Kirkwood Lodge, where he worked for approximately 30 years. He later accepted a position with a local dock company, where he worked as a road crew foreman, continuing his strong work ethic and leadership.

He was born to Earl Wesley Hicks and Mary Caroline Hicks (McNulty), who also preceded him in death, and grew up alongside his five sisters, Betty, Sue, Marjorie, Joy and Mary Lou.

Together, Richard and Colette raised two daughters, who were the pride of his life.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Shonna (Allen) Rakes of Camdenton, Missouri and Jamie (Nathan) Geromini of Montreal, Missouri; proud grandfather to, Fayth (Zoe) Bisby, Emma (Coleson) Schiefelbein, Dakota (Hannah) Geromini, Ava Geromini, Kendall Geromini; and a proud great-grandfather to, Emmett Geromini.

Richard found great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports—especially softball—and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. He loved all sports and treasured those moments spent on the sidelines supporting his family.

He also had a deep love for quail hunting and cherished every moment spent in the field. Whether walking behind bird dogs at sunrise or enjoying the quiet of the outdoors, those moments brought him peace and purpose.

Richard had a great sense of humor and could always make people laugh. He enjoyed spending time with friends at his local bar and restaurant, where he formed many lasting friendships and shared countless stories and laughs.

He will be remembered for his strength, his quiet wisdom, his humor, his love of family, and the steady presence he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
