RUSS BRITT Russell Leroy Britt, son of Thelton and Gladys Lavada Copeland Britt, was born, October 23, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life, Thursday, August 2, 2012, in his home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of seventy-three years, nine months and ten days. On February 7, 1959 in St. James, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Peggy Juanita Mitchell and to this union three children were born. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents who raised him, Emmitt and Gertrude Copeland; a son, Russell Eugene Britt and a sister, Lavada Rowlan. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Britt of the home; two daughters, Kim Pearson and husband Bob of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Vicky Denny and husband Les of Camdenton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Robert Pearson and wife Amy of Charlotte, South Carolina, Russell Heth Britt of Oneonta, Alabama, Mitchell Pearson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Morgan Denny and Taylor Denny both of Camdenton, Missouri and a host of other relatives and many friends. Russ was raised in St. James, Missouri. At the age of seventeen he joined the United States Air Force where he fought in the Vietnam War. He served in the Air Force as a computer programmer and retired after twenty years of service to his country. He worked at the Post Office in Oklahoma City for several years before retiring to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1983. In his "retirement" he did maintenance work for the Port Valero Condos. Russell made a profession of faith and was a member of the Family of God Church in Camdenton. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and developed a talent for scroll saw work. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his earlier years. He put together many model cars and liked tinkering with engines. Most of all, time spent with his family was important to him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m., Monday in the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
