Troy Alan Sexton

Troy Alan Sexton, 61, of Edwards Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at his home.

Troy was born August 24, 1961 in Trenton, Michigan to Raymond and Dorothy (Dorris) Sexton. He graduated from Buckeye Central High School in New Washington, Ohio in 1979. As a teen, he loved spending his time wrestling. After high school Troy worked for Dow Jones for over 30 years moving across the country multiple times to continue his career. One day he decided that life was too short and he wanted to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He took a job in Middlefield, Ohio for two years with Advancing Eco Agriculture as a fertilizer manufacturer. Then relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked for Heartland Sheets from 2016-2018. Finally an opportunity came for him to purchase Redneck YOT Club (Select Retreats) in 2018 where he could work for himself, and have more opportunities to be around loved ones.

When Troy wasn’t busy working around the campground or playing cornhole with his buddies, he was visiting his children and grandchildren. Troy found a lot of joy in helping his kids work on their houses. Whether it was doing electrical work, texturing ceilings or any other crazy thing they could come up with for him to do, he was always happy to help.

If there was an adventure to be had, Troy was the man to do it. From scuba diving, climbing Half Dome, running Tough Mudder, dominating sporting clay courses, or wrestling the grandkids, he was always up to the challenge. His children, Ashley, Brittany, and Lia, called him a superhero (specifically Batman) and considered him to be invincible, even as adults.

One thing Troy was very proud of were his girls. He sacrificed so that his girls could go to college, and be the best versions of themselves. He taught them how to be courageous, strong, independent, and to always stand up for what they believe. It was evident that he cared deeply for his children, grandchildren, and their future.

Troy is survived by his three daughters, Ashley (Sexton) Van Dyke and her husband Kevin Van Dyke of Pella, IA, Brittany Sexton of Nashville, TN, and Lia (Sexton) Maggiorotto and her husband Zachary Maggiorotto of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren Kaden Van Dyke, Ellie Van Dyke, Blaine Van Dyke, Brooks Van Dyke and Wesley Maggiorotto, his two brothers Raymond Jr. Sexton and Gene Sexton, his two sisters Deborah (Sexton) Gregory and Pamela Sexton, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Dorothy (Dorris) Sexton, brother Wesley Sexton and sister Rhonda (Sexton) Smith.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
