Velma Beatrice Trammel

VELMA TRAMMELL Velma Beatrice Trammell, daughter of Roy Winslow and Nellie Raymond Brogden Fowler, was born, November 6, 1917 in Canadian County, Oklahoma. She departed this life, Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in Lakeside Meadows, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of ninety-seven years, eight months and thirty days. On March 18, 1939 in Calexico, California, she was united in marriage to Virgil Leon Trammell. Together they shared thirty-three years of marriage before his passing in 1972. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Beverly Sue Wynn; a son, Dean Lee Trammell; two brothers, one infant and Melvin Paul Fowler and a sister-in-law, Bobbie Fowler. Survivors include a son, Dwane Trammell of Fallon, Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Kelley Trammell of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Morgan Trammell, Carson Trammell and Becky Cornett; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Devito of Ojai, California and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Velma was raised and attended school in Canadian County, Oklahoma. She moved to California in 1936 where she owned Velma’s Beauty Salon and later ran a beauty shop out of her home. In 1976, she moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where she worked in Home Health Care and also ran the snack bar at auctions that her daughter and son-in-law ran. Velma made a profession of faith and was a member of Camdenton First Assembly of God. She was a charter member of Crestline Assembly of God in Crestline, California. She loved being involved in mission work. When she was seventy-five years old, she started making baby quilts. They went to the LAMB House and Tipe Missions for Native Americans. In all, she made over 200 quilts. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and doing word search puzzles. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Camdenton First Assembly of God or Dream Center Ministries and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
