Wesley Landes Beyer was born on March 7, 1933 to Claude H and Ada (Landes) Beyer of Worcester, PA, joining big brothers Paul and Gene and sister Eleanor. Later came Adelaide, Nancy and Doris. A farm family, everyone pitched in to complete daily chores, a childhood that Wesley entertained with the stories of for the rest of his life.
In May of 1954 Wesley joined the US Air Force and completed a tour in late 1957. He was trained as an airline mechanic and participated in nuclear testing in the south pacific. Telling of these experiences captivated family audiences over and over again
While on leave he struck up a relationship with Dorothy McCleary and they were married in Trappe, PA on June 29, 1957. To this union were added three daughters and three sons.
Wesley contributed much to this world, a dairy farmer, jack of all trades, plumber, roofer, gardener but he most enjoyed being with his family. Yard ball games and card games around the family table brought out his chuckles and full effort.
It was the dream of farming with his brother Gene that brought the family to Missouri. After several attempts in southern Missouri he and “Dottie” moved the family to Camdenton in 1973 where they were active members of Camdenton United Methodist Church. For a season they also served many local children as foster parents. Dorothy passed into the Lord’s presence in 2006.
Wesley married Mary White of Camdenton in 2007 and she preceded him in death.
Wesley’s journey reached its end on Monday, June 16, 2025. Surviving are his sisters Nancy Koch and Doris Sauerwald, a sister in law, Grace Shah, his children Cheryl Lynn Dockray-Beagles (Eddie) of Alamogordo, NM, Mark Wesley (Natalie) of Brentwood, TN, Dale Christian (Anita) of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Guatemala, Natalie Renee Kauffman of Camdenton, Linda Grace (Lee) Warford of Pattonsburg, MO and Christopher Joel (Jennifer) of Joplin, MO, as well as 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
The family is grateful for the excellent medical assistance received on his behalf through the Harry S. Truman Veterans Administration Hospital and service as well as Compassus Hospice and especially Natalie Kauffman who served her dad in his home until his final breath.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
